Some Photos from the US Air Force Museum


The following shots are presented mostly out of a need for completeness. Frankly, there's far better shots of the planes in question up on the US Air Force Museum's website, complete with actual info and all that. Of course, it could be argued that they're cheating, what with being able to move the planes around to get a good shot...

Sopwith Camel Snoopy flew one.

Curtiss P-40E "Warhawk" Best fighter we had at the start of WWII.
30mm cannon Note that the cannon shoots through the propshaft. The engine sits behind the gun (off camera to the left) and drives the prop through the bottom shaft.

Consolidated B-24D "Liberator" Long-range bomber used in WWII.

Boeing B-52D "Stratofortress" Big, real big.

North American XB-70 "Valkyrie" Only surviving example.
Fairchild Republic A-10A "Thunderbolt II" More commonly known as the A-10 Warthog.
McDonnell Douglas F-15 "Streak Eagle"  
Rockwell International B-1A "Lancer"  
Lockheed EC-121D "Constellation"  
Junkers JU-52  
Lockheed AC-130A "Spectre" Gunship A C-130 "Hercules", but turned into a ground-attack gunship.
